Pediatric Otolaryngology
Dr. Afman is the first fellowship trained Pediatric Otolaryngologist in the West Michigan area. He uses both medical and surgical techniques to treat diseases of the pediatric head and neck while also focusing on safe, family-centered, patient care. He provides inpatient consultation to the Neonatal ICU and Pediatric ICU as well as the pediatric floors of DeVos Children’s Hospital. 
 
Airway Reconstruction
Dr. Afman has an expertise in the management of the complex pediatric airway.  Endoscopic and open surgical procedures are used to achieve decannualation in tracheostomy tube dependent children.
 
Feeding and Swallowing Problems
Functional Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is performed by Dr. Afman and the speech pathologists at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital to evaluate children with dysphagia, aspiration and other feeding issues.
 
General Otolaryngology
Dr. Afman also has a general otolaryngology practice encompassing all diseases of the head and neck. This includes otology and ear surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery and balloon sinuplasty, as well as endocrine surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid glands.
